Ctizens Caring for Children

Breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect by addressing the material, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs of foster children… because every child deserves the chance for a better life. 

Citizens Caring for Children was founded in 1984 to support some of Oklahoma’s most vulnerable citizens. As of January 2011, there are more than 8,000 Oklahoma children in foster care. Citizens Caring for Childrenprovides resources to thousands of children each year throughprograms that promote self-worth, develop character, give hope, change lives and create healthy futures.

With your support…The Citizens Caring for Children Resource Center can provide a child, who once had nothing, with new clothing, shoes, pajamas, a coat, his very own book and duffel bag.The Mentor Program provides stability to children who sometimes live in more than 50 foster homes. Monthly shelter birthday parties bring joy to those living in the Pauline Mayer Shelter. For many children it’s their first birthday party.Children living in foster care know Santa really does exist through Santa Stop. And foster children can walk the halls of a new school with their heads held high from the items they received at Back to School. 

With your support we can continue to ensure that these innocent babies, toddlers and teens will have the chance for a better life. Citizens Caring for Children would love to close the doors from lack of need, but there is still work to do, and most importantly, these children need to know they are special and that someone cares.
